Rachel and Devin had envisioned eloping in Italy but knew that was not a feasible option. Villa Catalana Cellars in Oregon provided an Italian-inspired destination elopement without having to hop on a plane. They fell in love with the romantic elements Villa Catalana offered and it was the perfect backdrop for their elopement.
“You feel like home”
The moment I met Rachel and Devin, I could tell they were madly in love. Devin’s inability to take his eyes off her and Rachel’s statement “Devin you light up my world” were one of the many moments that brought happy tears to my eyes. From their serious moments to full on belly laughs, this couple’s love for each other radiated.
We started their elopement day off with Devin waiting for Rachel at the end of the cement pillars. There, they proceeded to read their vows and share in happy tears. This ceremony location overlooks a pond surrounded by lush greenery and extravagant architecture, making this place feel incredibly magical.
Devin and Rachel knew the traditional wedding did not feel like them. Tuscany has always held a special place in their hearts together, as they had vacationed there together on one of their first trips as a couple. Italy is where they fell in love and they wanted to capture that nostalgic in their location.
When they found Villa Catalana, they felt as if they were transported back to the place they first fell in love. They immediately envisioned the start of their marriage there. It perfectly represented their love for traveling, while being a nod to where they fell in love, without having to leave home.
Eloping here allowed them celebrate their love in a way that felt honest to who they are as a couple. We took our time walking and exploring around the grounds of the Villa. It truly felt like a slow day that was authentic to their personalities as a couple and were able to soak in the moments.
Once we found a beautiful terrace within the castle-like walls, they shared a dance and drank champagne. The golden sun cascaded onto their faces as they danced with the with the biggest smiles on their faces.
We ended the evening with an intimate dinner surrounded by insane florals from Swoon Floral Design. The place settings, with custom menus from Life in Letters, were to die for. We cheers’ed to Rachel and Devin with champagne, ate delicious cake from Bee’s Custom Cakes, and enjoyed the happiest evening together.
Villa Catalana was the perfect magical place to celebrate Rachel and Devin’s elopement love story. They were able to capture their love in a place that both felt like home and a dreamy Italian Villa.
